Five arrested with 41 bottles of foreign liquor in EPZ area of ​​Chittagong city

Rapid Action Battalion RAB-6 arrested five drug dealers including a human rights activist in a raid in Bandartila area under EPZ police station in Chittagong city. At that time 41 bottles of foreign liquor were recovered from them.

They were arrested around 6:30 pm on Sunday (June 6) from a rented house on the fifth floor of Islam Plaza.

The arrested accused are Md. Alauddin, 30, son of late Nurushafar of Machimalam Road of EPZ Police Station, Md. Jewel (23), son of Md. Abdul Karim of Nasir Saudagar Bari of Shaheed Nuruzzaman Road Road of the same police station, Shah Mohammad of Box Ali Munshi Road Amirul Islam, 26, son of Saiful Islam of Mabud Saudagar’s house and Md Nazmul Hossain, 26, son of late Jasim Uddin of Rayerkanti village under Matlab police station of Chandpur district.

It is learned that the accused Ivan Shahjahan is the executive president of the 39th ward branch of Bangladesh Human Rights Commission. Besides, if he introduces himself as a BCL leader, he has no position in the metropolis or ward.

Confirming the matter, RAB-7 Assistant Director (Media) Nurul Abshar said a smart RAB team raided the EPZ on a tip-off and arrested five drug dealers along with 41 bottles of foreign liquor. The estimated value of the recovered drugs is 1 lakh 64 thousand rupees.

The arrested accused and the recovered drugs have been handed over to the EPZ police station for legal action, the RAB official said.
