The Prime Minister will inaugurate 50 model mosques tomorrow

Of the 560 model mosques built in Bangladesh, 50 have been prepared for inauguration. On Thursday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate these virtual mosques.

According to ministry sources, a total of 560 mosques are being constructed in each district and upazila under the project titled ‘Establishment of Model Mosques and Islamic Cultural Centers’. In the first phase, construction work of 50 model mosques has been completed. According to Islamic Foundation sources, Prime Minister Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina in her 2014 election manifesto promised to build one improved mosque in each district and upazila in the hope of building a happy, prosperous and developed Bangladesh in the dream of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. During a visit to the Ministry of Religious Affairs on February 8, 2015, the Prime Minister gave instructions to implement the promise. In view of this, the project titled ‘Establishment of 560 Model Mosques and Islamic Cultural Centers in each District and Upazila (First Amendment)’ at a cost of Tk. On April 5, 2016, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina laid the foundation stone of Model Mosques at 9 places in 8 divisions through video conference. Through this, under the supervision of the Department of Public Works, the construction work of three-storey for the fourth floor and upazila at the district level and four-storey model mosque and Islamic cultural center in the coastal area began. With all modern facilities, these model mosques and Islamic cultural complex have separate ablution and prayer facilities for men and women, library, research and religious da’wah activities, Holy Quran Hefz department, children’s education, guest house, accommodation for foreign tourists, body bathing arrangements, registration of pilgrims. , Training, training of Imams, etc. are arranged. Offices have been arranged for the officers and employees of the cultural center including the accommodation of the Imam-Muazzin.

The model mosques to be inaugurated in 50 upazilas on Thursday are: Savar in Dhaka, Madhukhali in Faridpur, Saltha, Pakundia and Kuliarchar in Kishoreganj, Shibalaya in Manikganj, Rajbari Sadar, Shariatpur Sadar and Gosairhat, Sariakandi in Bogra, Sherpur and Kahljour in Bogra. And Upazila Sadar, Pabna’s Chatmohar, Rajshahi’s Godagari and Paba, Dinajpur’s Khansama and Biral, Lalmonirhat’s Patgram, Panchagarh’s Debiganj and Upazila Sadar, Rangpur District Sadar, Mithapukur, Upazila Sadar, Pirganj, Badarganj, Thakurgaon’s Haripur, Noakhali’s Subarnachar.
