Happy inauguration of Model Mosque at Subarnachar, Noakhali

On the occasion of Mujib Year, Model Mosque and Islamic Cultural Center has been inaugurated in Subarnachar, Noakhali like all over the country with the aim of conveying the correct message of Islam to the common people by removing religious misinterpretations.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the event via video conference from Ganobhaban on Thursday (June 10) at 11:30 am.

Present at the occasion were Noakhali Deputy Commissioner Md. Khorshed Alam Khan, Former Joint Secretary to the Government of Bangladesh Md. Hanif, Subarnachar Upazila Executive Officer Chaiti Sarvabidya, District Awami League President Principal AHM Khairul Alam Chowdhury Selim, Upazila Assistant Commissioner Land Md. Arifur Rahman, Charjabbar Officer-in-charge of the police station Md. Ziaul Haque, District Awami League member Md. Abdur Rob, Subarnachar Upazila Awami League President Advocate Md. Omar Farooq, General Secretary Md. Hanif Chowdhury and many others.

It is learned that the four-storey mosque has been constructed with government funding under the Ministry of Housing and Public Works. In 2019, the responsible contractor Rupali Builders started the construction work of the mosque complex. Earlier, on April 5, 2016, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina laid the foundation stone for the construction of the mosque. The mosque complex has been constructed at a cost of Tk 15 crore. The four-storey building stands on 36,400 square feet of space. The ground floor of the building has car parking and prayers for the disabled. There are also Imam Training Centers, Islamic Book Store offices and bathing facilities for the dead. On the 2nd floor there is a main prayer room, conference room, office room of Islamic Foundation and open Eidgah.

On the 3rd floor there is a separate room for tourists, Islamic Foundation Research Center, Islamic Library, Hifz and Maktab Khana. There are also separate rooms for Khatib, Imam, Muazzin and Khadem. There is a separate aju khana for men and women and a separate prayer room. The model mosque also has separate staircases for the sick and disabled and educational facilities for children. The state-of-the-art air-conditioned model mosque and Islamic cultural center will be officially opened after the inauguration.

Mohammad Rezzakul Haidad, director of the district Islamic Foundation, said a total of 10 model mosques would be built in Noakhali. The construction work of the model mosque of Subarnachar upazila has been completed. The Prime Minister officially inaugurated the mosque through a video conference on Thursday.

He added that apart from this, construction of 8 mosques in 6 upazilas of Noakhali and 1 mosque in the district is underway. Besides, construction work of upazila level mosques is also underway. The work of these mosques will be completed in phases.

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Khorshed Alam Khan said it was the first time in the world that a government was building such a large number of mosque complexes together. Today the mosque of our Subarnachar upazila has been inaugurated. The mosque will serve as a center for Islamic studies. From here the correct message of Islam will be spread to the common people.
