Noakhali District Representative:

UP member candidates and their supporters have been accused of hacking an Omani expatriate to death in Noakhali’s Subarnachar over a previous feud and a dispute over the UP election.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Kamal Uddin, 33, son of Obaidul Haque of Charkaji Mokhles village in Ward 8 of Charwapada union of the upazila and father of two children.

The incident took place on Wednesday (June 9) at around 1.30pm in front of Malek’s tea shop in Charkaji Mokhles village of Ward 8 of Charwapada Union in the upazila. Kamal, who was critically injured, died in front of Comilla Upazila Health Complex at around 10:30 pm on the way to Dhaka for better treatment.

Belal Hossain, younger brother of the deceased, complained that his brother Kamal, an expatriate from Oman, came to the country two months and nine days ago. He has been living in Oman for the last 10 years. Char Wapda Union Parishad elections will be held next (June 21). Kamal, who was killed in this election, wants to vote for Md. Joynal Abedin, a UP member candidate of Ward 8 of Charwapada Union. As a result, he got angry with the other three UP member candidates. Kabir, the brother of UP member candidate Abdur Rahim, works in the police. He did irregularities in the area with the help and influence of his brother. Last Tuesday night, UP member candidate Abdur Rahim and his supporters publicly threatened to kill Kamal at the local Kazi Noor Nabi Darbesh Bazaar. Earlier, they had a quarrel with Kamal over this election. Kamal, who was killed in an opposition case, was in jail for 24 days. He was released on bail a few days ago. My brother was hacked to death on the orders of UP member candidate Abdur Rahim, Selim member, Masud.

According to locals, Kamal Uddin was having tea at Malek’s shop in Charkaji Mokhles village of Charwapada union of the upazila on Wednesday (June 9) at noon. At that time, the accused in multiple terrorist cases identified in the same area were Md. Main Uddin, son of late Safi Miah, Md. Rafiq, Md. Ismail, Abdur Rahim, Jasim, Jasim Uddin Tushar, son of Chhayedul Haque Sadur, Ahsan Ullah, Abul Kalam, son of Ruhul Amin, Masud, son of Selim. Makes a surprise attack on. Kamal Uddin fell to the ground when the assailants hit him on the head with a Ramada. The terrorists then cut off one of Malek’s legs and seriously injured him. At this time, the identified terrorist Rafiq hit Rafiq in the eye with a screw. When local resident Kalu Mia protested, the terrorists also hacked and injured him. Later, Kamal’s relatives got the news and the terrorists fled. They also vandalized Kamal’s motorcycle which was at the spot. After rescuing the injured Kamal, he died in front of Comilla Upazila Health Complex at around 10:30 pm on his way to Dhaka from Noakhali General Hospital for better treatment.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Charjabbar Police Station Ziaul Haque confirmed the incident. He added that after receiving the news, the police visited the spot. Police arrested Ismail and Abul Kalam in the incident.
