On 10/08/2021 at 06.00 am, engineer Arup Ratan Das (42) was walking on the road in front of Eve Tailors shop at Ghatfarhadbeg Haji Hakim Ali Road under Kotwali police station when an unidentified 03 persons handed him 01 Samsung mobile, 02 ATMs. Snatched the identity card and cash of Rs. 4,000 / -. When he became a plaintiff in the incident and filed a statement with Kotwali Police Station, Case No. 33, Tang-11/08/2021, Section-392 of Kotwali Police Station was filed.

SI / Mohammad Ayub Uddin is the investigating officer of the case. While he was at the Andarkilla intersection to arrest the accused in the case along with the accompanying officer force, on the basis of secret information received through 11/08/2021 sources, 01 fat knife used to snatch Md. Rony (25) from the road in front of Opium Mother’s Alley in Teri Bazar Detained with rickshaw. He later confessed to the robbery, including revealing his name and address at a stage of extensive interrogation. After searching the body of Md. Rony (25) and his driven autorickshaw in front of the witnesses present, they seized 01 steel tip knife, snatched cash of Rs. 4000 / – and 01 battery powered autorickshaw inside the autorickshaw. During interrogation, he revealed the names and addresses of the 1st and 3rd accused involved in the incident. At 11.05 pm on 11/07/2021, he went to Taktarpul area under Bakalia police station to arrest the 1st accused. He sensed the presence of the police and tried to escape by jumping into a pond behind Abu Zamindar’s colony. Arrested at 18.25. He was brought from the pool and his body was searched in front of the witnesses and 01 Samsung mobile phone snatched from the right pocket of his pants was recovered and confiscated. At one stage of extensive interrogation of the 1st accused, the 1st accused confessed that the snatching incident took place in Kotwali Police Station Case No. 33, Tang-11/06/2021, Section-392DB with the release of his name and address. Accompanied by the 1st and 2nd accused, the fugitive 3rd accused was arrested in different areas of Chittagong metropolis including different areas of Bakalia police station but the 3rd accused could not be found. After extensive interrogation of the 1st and 2nd accused in the officers room of Kotwali Police Station, they both admitted that the 1st and 2nd accused along with the fugitive accused 3rd Main Main Uddin (30) snatched Tash 10/06/2021 at 06.00 am and filed a case in Kotwali Police Station No. 33, Tang. 11/07/2021, Section-392 The plaintiff has snatched 01 Samsung mobile, 02 ATM cards, 01 office identity card and Rs. 4,000 / – in cash from the plaintiff engineer Arup Ratan Das (42). During further interrogation, they further admitted that the weapon used in their snatching operation (Domestic LG) was kept by Amjad’s younger brother in a secret place under the bed inside the house of the 1st accused. Accused No. 1 and 2 entered the house of Amjad, a resident of Abu Zamindar Colony in Taktarpul under Bakalia Police Station at 11.25 am on 11/08/2021 with the people present during the raid. According to the 1st accused, 1 old towel was placed under his younger brother’s bed. 01 domestic LG and 02 rounds of Katurj were seized. When the detainees were interrogated about the possession of home-made LGs and cartridges, they said that the weapons were used to loot the entire Chittagong metropolitan area including the Cinema Palace, Kata Pahar and Nandankanan area and to keep various fugitives involved in various criminal activities. The accused admitted that they used to intimidate the general public with the illegal weapons they had with them when the snatching was obstructed. The accused are professional snatchers, terrorists. Defendant No. 1 was released on bail 1 week ago and re-engaged in snatching.

Note: 1 case against the 1st accused Md. Saddam Hossain in Halishahar police station of CMP under section 399/402 of the Penal Code, 01 case under section 399/402 of the Penal Code 180 of Bakalia police station and 01 case under section 394 of Kotwali police station, against the second accused Md. Rony. There are 01 cases under section 302/34 of the Penal Code.
