After the arrest in Begumganj of Noakhali, one accused in the kidnapping case escaped with the handcuffs of the police.
On Sunday (June 13) at 5 pm Begumganj Model Police Inspector (Investigation) said. Ruhul Amin has confirmed this information. Police have launched raids in different parts of the upazila to arrest him. Police filed a case with Begumganj Police Station on Saturday.
It is learned that Babu, a resident of Bhab Bhadri village in ward 1 of Aliarpur union of Begumganj upazila, is accused in a kidnapping case. On Friday afternoon, a team of police led by Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Jahangir of Begumganj Model Police Station arrested the terrorist Babu from his house and handcuffed him.
Then they took him to different places. At around 7.30 pm, the police were talking to the accused in a shop in Bhav Bhadri village. At that time, Babu escaped with handcuffs by evading the police. After that, the police could not arrest him in the last two days by conducting raids in different places. Md. Shahjahan (65), a member of Ward No. 1 of Alaiyarpur Union Parishad, admitted the truth of the incident and said that Babu was the top terrorist of the union. There are 15-20 cases against him including theft, robbery and kidnapping. He was arrested more than once by the police and RAB and was in jail. The police should have brought him to the police station immediately after his arrest. Without doing so, the accused got a chance to escape.
Police officer Mohammad Jahangir Alam, who conducted the operation, said he was handcuffed immediately after his arrest. At one point he escaped. Attempts are being made to arrest him.
Begumganj Model Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Muhammad Kamruzzaman Sikder admitted the incident and said that after arresting the accused in a kidnapping case, the terrorist inadvertently fled with handcuffs.
Following the incident, several police teams, including him, launched an operation to nab him and rescue him. But he was not found. The arrest operation continues. The police filed a case on Saturday.
