The accused in the case is Nur Mustafa Tinu, a controversial Juba League leader from Chawkbazar. However, his followers claimed that Tinu was not at the scene. Even after that, the police took the case against Tinu.
According to President Mahmudul Karim, Abdullah Al Saymun, a student of English department of Chittagong College, filed the case at 12:30 pm on Wednesday, naming 12 people including Tinu. Mohiuddin Sourav and Sirajul Islam Sourav, who were arrested from the spot in the case, were arrested by the police and sent to court on Thursday. Earlier on Wednesday (June 18) at around 12:30 pm in front of the Care Shopping Mall of Chawkbazar Police Station, a clash took place between the president and editor group of Chittagong College BCL.
A total of 6 people including four ordinary students were injured. The three were admitted to wards 25 and 20 of the hospital. According to Karim, Abdullah Al Saimun filed a case as a plaintiff. Tinu, a controversial Juba League leader from Chawkbazar, and Subhash Mallick, secretary of the College Chhatra League, were among 11 accused. The accused in the case are Amir Uddin, Zia Uddin Arman, Sourav Uddin Bappa, Sirajul Islam Torab, Md Mohiuddin Sourav, Monir Uddin Rehan, Abul Kalam, Ansar Uddin, Monty Chowdhury, Emon Hossain and Md Abdullah.
Chawkbazar Police Station OC Mohammad Alamgir said a case has been filed against 12 people, including Nur Mustafa Tinu, for identifying those involved in the attack. Two of them have been arrested and sent to court. The operation to arrest the other accused is continuing.
