An old man died after being cut by a train in Chandpur

Chandpur District Representative:

A mental patient named Ganesh Chandra (60) died after being cut by a train at Kotchandpur railway station in Jhenaidah.

The accident took place when the Syedpur-bound rocket mail train, which left Jessore at around 12 noon on Tuesday (June 22), entered the Kotchandpur railway station. The deceased was identified as Ganesh Chandra, son of late Nitai Chandra of Ward 8 of the municipality.

According to local sources, he slipped and fell under the wheels while boarding a moving train, severed his head from his body and died.

On behalf of the family of the deceased, he said that the deceased Ganesh Chandra was suffering from mental imbalance for some time.

Police Officer-in-Charge of Model Police Station SI Tawfiq Anam accompanied the accompanying force to inspect the accident site. He said it was a death in a train accident, which is why the railway police will investigate and they will hand over the body. It is our responsibility to look after the body until they arrive.

On-duty railway station master Nurul Haque said, “I have sent messages to Khulna and Jessore GRP police outposts immediately after the accident. They will come soon and take further action.”
