All the achievements of Bengalis have come under the leadership of Awami League — Information Minister

Dhaka, Wednesday 23 June 2021 ‘All the achievements of Bengalis have come under the leadership of Awami League’, mentioning the Minister of Information and Broadcasting and Joint General Secretary of Awami League Dr. Hasan Mahmud said that in fact the two names of Bangladesh’s independence and Bangladesh Awami League are closely related. It is under the leadership of Awami League that we fought for independence, fought for independence and achieved independence.

The minister was speaking as the chief guest at the unveiling ceremony of a CD of patriotic music of 50 artists on Hawaiian guitar titled ‘Our Liberation, Our Freedom’ on the occasion of 50th anniversary of independence and Mujib centenary in the conference room of the ministry on Wednesday noon. Md. Hasanur Rahman Bachchu, Executive President of Bangladesh Hawaiian Guitar Artists Council and a pioneer of guitar practice and Aminur Rahman, an internationally renowned poet and researcher spoke on the occasion.

“After the establishment of Bangladesh Awami League on June 23, 1949, the then ‘drawing room based politics’ went to the people and first Awami League but later Awami League emerged as a non-communal party by omitting the word ‘Muslim’,” he said.

Looking back at history, he said there was no constitution in Pakistan until the Awami League formed the central government in 1956. The first constitution of Pakistan was drafted under the leadership of Hossain Shaheed Sohwardi, President of All Pakistan Awami League. Although the demand for our language was established in 1952, in fact the introduction of Bangla as the state language of Pakistan, the observance of the state on 21st February and the construction of the Shaheed Minar all started after the formation of the Awami League central government in 1956.

The Minister said that Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as the President of Awami League had created the mindset of Bengalis for independence by declaring 6 points of emancipation of Bengalis. Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman participated in the 1970 elections on behalf of Awami League . In this context, the non-cooperation movement and later the freedom struggle called by Bangabandhu, the declaration of independence, the war of independence and the achievement of independence of Bangladesh under the leadership of Bangabandhu. That is why the name of Bangladesh Awami League is associated with all the achievements of Bangladesh today.

We would have lost this Bengali culture. It is under the leadership of Bangabandhu, the country gained independence under the leadership of Awami League, so our culture has been able to protect our language and not only that, today 21st February has been recognized as the International Mother Language Day under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina, daughter of Bangabandhu. Today, under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina, daughter of Bangabandhu, Bangladesh has become a middle-income country, one of the most densely populated food deficient countries in the world. This achievement has been possible under the leadership of Hasina’s Awami League government, said Dr. Laugh.

Congratulating the initiative of the Hawaiian Guitar Artists’ Council on June 23, the day of the founding anniversary of the Awami League, the Information Minister described the unveiling of the CD of the country’s song on Hawaiian guitar as significant. The minister emphasized on airing Hawaiian guitar-based programs on all televisions as well as radio. The event featured a video of a country song played by 50 members of the Hawaiian Guitar Artists Council.

Members of the Hawaiian Guitar Artists Council Kabir Ahmed, Md. Shafiullah Khokon, Md. Farhad Aziz and Abdur Rauf took part in the event.
