Arjun Nahar:

158 doctors have been transferred simultaneously from Chittagong Medical College (CMC). A large number of these doctors have been posted in different districts and upazilas and asked to join the new workplace by Wednesday. Teachers, doctors and other concerned people think that the incident will disrupt the medical services at Chittagong Medical College Hospital as well as online education activities in the medical college.

Besides, the medical leaders have reacted angrily to the transfer. They demanded immediate reconsideration of the mass transfer of doctors.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has ordered the simultaneous transfer of 158 doctors of Chittagong Medical College Hospital. Of these, 24 doctors were transferred from Chamek to Feni district, 16 to Khagrachhari, 60 to Chittagong General Hospital, 18 to Chamek to BIDID and eight to Fatikchhari upazila. In a notification issued on Monday, it was said that these doctors have been attached to ensure public health including coping with the Kovid 19 epidemic. They will also be instructed to join their new workplace by July 7 tomorrow and will be treated as an immediate release from their current workplace prior to July 6. The new workplaces of the transferees include Khagrachhari, Feni, Fatikchhari and Daganbhuiyan.

Medical leaders have reacted angrily to the incident by making irrational remarks. BMA general secretary said. Faisal Iqbal Chowdhury said, ‘More than two to three thousand patients come to Chittagong Medical College Hospital every day. There are more common patients than corona. Chamek has been transferred to six people including the head of PCR lab. A dental surgeon has been assigned to treat Kovid. Anatomy teacher who teaches clinical subjects treats him to covid. There are more patients in the neurosurgery and orthopedic departments. There are only three doctors in this department. More than 200 patients. In such an unplanned manner, the medical system of Chamek Hospital will collapse by replacing experienced doctors without any field level discussion.

Besides, the medical system of Chittagong Medical College Hospital may be disrupted due to the simultaneous transfer of so many doctors, he said, adding that efforts are being made to reconsider the matter. Shahanara Begum. Principal Dr. Shahanara Begum said, “We have had difficulty in this appointment. Most of the teachers in our college, including the head of microbiology lab and PCR lab, have been transferred. For a year now, teachers have been taking classes online on basic subjects, which have been disrupted. We teach students. I work in the hospital as well. Our problem has increased as most of them have been posted. We have informed the ministry that the posting should be done in a coordinated manner.

Director of Chittagong Medical College Hospital Brigadier General SM Humayun Kabir did not want to talk to the media about this. “I apologize for the inconvenience,” he said. I can’t say anything about it.
