I don’t want a hospital in Chittagong to destroy the lungs

Demonstration rallies and processions were organized by Bangladesh Chhatra Union and Bangladesh Youth Union at the intersection of CRB Saat Rasta at 5.00 pm today, July 15, 2021 to protest against the initiative of CRB to build a hospital by destroying the natural beauty of Chittagong city.

Bangladesh Youth Union, Chittagong District President Ripayan Barua presided over the function. Students Union Chittagong District President Annie Sen, Youth Union Chittagong District General Secretary Ujjwal Sikder, Students Union Chittagong District General Secretary Imran Chowdhury, Youth Leader Abdul Halim, Jabed Chowdhury, Rashidul Samir spoke. , Biplob Das, Jewel Barua, Abhijit Barua, student leader Mahbuba Jahan Rumi, general secretary of student union Chabir Sourav Dhar and others.

The speakers said that almost all the green gardens and open spaces of Chittagong city have fallen into the clutches of the so-called development and profiteering cycle. By the way, CRB is the only green park where the people of the city go and breathe a sigh of relief. But the government has used that open space in the game of destruction. At the top of this CRB, various types of traditional Bengali events like Pahela Baishakh, Pahela Falgun, Balikhela are organized. If there is an establishment like a hospital, these arrangements will be closed forever. The people of Chittagong cannot accept this conspiracy in any way.

The speakers also said that the railway authorities have leased many large plots of land in Chittagong to various commercial establishments in the past. But the common people of Chittagong did not get any benefit from the commercial establishments built in these places, only the rich have benefited. Many places in the railways are occupied by the rich and powerful. They have no interest in rescuing those places. But they are eager to destroy the CRB open space. Therefore, I urge the government to move away from this deadly suicidal decision to protect the life and property of the CRB.

The speakers also said that the government undertakes big projects in the name of development. But public opinion is not paying any attention to taking those projects or government work. Instead of giving benefits to the people, there is a tendency among them to leave the empty words of profit and development and rise to cheap popularity. The government is not giving importance to public opinion as the culture of voting has been destroyed. The latest example of this is the initiative to build a hospital in the CRB.

We call on the people of Chittagong to unite against this undemocratic decision of the government. If the initiative to build a hospital in CRB is not stopped, Bangladesh Students Union and Bangladesh Youth Union will form a movement with the people of Chittagong.
