Permission to open shi-lp-factories across the country from next Sunday
Hossain Mintu:
The government has given permission to open industrial factories across the country from next Sunday.
The government has announced that all export-oriented industries, including garments, will be reopened from August 1 (Sunday) amid strict restrictions on coronavirus prevention. This information has been given in a circular signed by the Deputy Secretary of the Cabinet Division Md. Rezaul Islam on Friday (July 30) afternoon. The circular said that considering the overall situation, all export-oriented industries and factories were kept out of the scope of restrictions from 8 am on August 1.
Earlier on Thursday (July 29), the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) called on Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam and demanded immediate reopening of all manufacturing industries, including the country’s export sector. On the same day, FBCCI President Md. Jasim Uddin said that all the industries were closed under the restrictions in Corona and the vital energy production activities of the economic activities were stopped. As a result, the supply chain is on the verge of breaking down. Everyone directly or indirectly involved in the production to the consumer is being harmed. The FBCCI president said that if the products are not supplied and marketed properly in the future, the prices of the products will go up. Low-income buyers will suffer. Besides, if the production system of the export sector is closed, it will not be possible to supply in time according to the next export order. There is a risk that the export order will be canceled.
