The miscreants entered the house in the guise of the administration and hacked the husband and wife

In Noakhali’s Chatkhil, masked miscreants entered the house in the guise of administration personnel and stabbed the husband and wife.

The incident took place in the early hours of Saturday (August 6) at Humayun’s new home in Uor Manikpur village of Ward No. 1 in Badalkot Union of the upazila.

The injured have been identified as Humayun Kabir, 48, and his wife Shefali Begum, 35, of Humayun’s new home in Uor Manikpur village under Ward 1 of Badalkot Union.

The victim Humayun Kabir said Oman expatriate Akram Hossain, son of Anwar Hossain of Khirihar village in Shaharasti upazila of Chandpur. He got married on the mobile phone to his partner Akhter, 19, daughter of Abul Kashem of Baxpur village in Bhatra union of Ramganj upazila of Laxmipur six months ago. The girl was a resident of a madrasa in Hajiganj. He came home when the Madrasa in Corona was closed. Her parents did not give her a place in the house because she was married out of love. Then when he went to his father-in-law’s house, the people of his father-in-law’s house did not accept the marriage and insulted him and drove him away. After receiving the news, the injured Humayun Kabir (uncle’s father-in-law) gave shelter to his nephew’s wife Akhter a month and a half ago. Akhtar’s elder sister threatened Humayun Kabir on his mobile phone last Sunday night. Humayun Kabir claims that his elder sister sent a terrorist and tried to kill him by hacking him.

Humayun Kabir further said that around 4 am, 10-12 armed masked terrorists opened the door of his house. Then 6 armed men entered the room, got on the bed and started beating me. At that time my wife Shefali Begum came forward to save me but she was also hacked and injured. When Humayun Kabir tried to resist with a rod, the assailants ordered the police administration to shoot one of them. When the terrorists left, the locals admitted them to Noakhali General Hospital.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chatkhil Police Station Mohammad Abul Khair confirmed the incident. He added that police had visited the spot. Legal action will be taken if a written complaint is received.
